Alumni Portal for the WU Executive Academy

The WU Executive Academy aims at offering a sophisticated Alumni portal to its graduates. The Alumni Portal is a further development of the existing Executive Academy Portal which has already been implemented by Knowledge Markets. The Alumni Portal is based on the Community Framework OpenACS.

The Alumni Portal offers the following features:

• Career Center
• Event Management
• Notification/Announcement Management
  

Networking

The OpenACS package Contacts enables alumni to network with each other. With this package, graduates can add alumni to contact lists, send them private messages and present themselves with a personal profile. The users can define which personal information they want to show to the public.

Each community can use shared applications, e. g. filestorage, photo gallery, forums, calendar or wikis.

Career Center

The Career Center includes

• contacts of personnel consultants
• job offers including an efficient search

This part of the Alumni Portal allows members to get into contact with personnel consultants and companies in order to exchange experience and interesting job offers.

Event Management

The Event Management allows users to inform preselected communities about events like get-togethers ("regulars' tables") or community-relevant lectures. These events are displayed in an overview (overview of all appointments, events, personal entries). Registered users can register online for offered events.

Appointments and events can be forwarded to contacts ("Are you there?").

Notification/Announcement Management

News can be edited and allocated to one or more communities. Important and current news is displayed on the start page. If the notification deals with an event or seminar, the date will be automatically transferred to the calendar.
